The Social enterprise is an income generating activity that supports victims of trafficking, forced prostitution and other forms of sex slavery, to be back to a Normal Life in Society through a Sustainable Reintegration Process (Financial Independence).
The main objective of the reintegration and follow up activity is to give financial independence to the reintegrated person. To achieve this, AFESIP Vietnam provides educational and vocational training to its residents. The ultimate objective is to enable the beneficiaries to attain self-sufficiency. AFESIP Vietnam offers the residents a wide range of training options, all of them undertaken outside the center. First they follow vocational courses at governmental vocational training centers and then, the residents continue their apprenticeship at private shops where they become more qualified. The Centre provides a close follow-up to career orientation and their progress.
Regarding in particular the sewing training, most of it is undertaken at professional tailor workshops. The duration of the training period depends on the individual skills, but it can take around 1 year. In many cases after the training period the trainee is offer a job employment at the workshop. Many of the women that pursue sewing apprenticeship in private tailor shops reintegrate successfully.
Nevertheless, there are women for whom, due to their psychological traumas, their backgrounds or the lack of family support, none of these options seem very suitable. They need special care and support during the reintegration period as they are not so ready to confront society yet. They are especially vulnerable.
In these 2 years the social enterprise has positioned as the best alternative for women in special vulnerable situations, to find employment in a totally secure system, until they feel ready to move on and find other opportunities. The social enterprise is now considered a model of job employment for victims of trafficking.
